The year was 1976 and she became a global celebrity when she scored the first ever perfect 10 on the bar that was asymmetric during the Montreal Olympic Games. Furthermore, she had six other perfect 10s, making her, at fourteen years age the youngest Olympic medalist across all categories. In addition to helping Nadia Comaneci draw attention from all directions, but she also helped Romania to establish itself on the global map. This sporting legend was a worldwide sensation after she achieved an impossible scoring. The legend she created was legendary, and helped popularize gymnastics all over the world. In addition, it transformed perception of women athletes by the public. Her impact was so significant on the Olympics that the uneven bars event is named for two of the moves after her - toe-on and release. Both remain classified as high-level degree. Aside from the Olympics she also became a star at World Championships and European Championships. Her achievements have made her one of the greatest gymnasts of all time.
